Materials, Construction and Production (Building Engineering)

New materials and advanced construction technology give buildings new potential.

To meet the needs of the coming generation for more upgraded and increasingly diverse buildings that offer better living in harmony with the natural environment, research and development is under way on improving the qualities of concrete, fiber composite materials and finishing materials; on integrating technologies and saving labor in construction; and on developing renewal methods ranging from diagnosis through dismantlement to remodeling. Construction productivity has been evaluated and, making the fullest use of new media, informationized construction-production methods are being developed with Computer Integrated Construction in mind.
