Terunobu FUJIMORI (Architectural Historian, Architecture)

1946	Born in Nagano Prefecture
1971	Graduated from School of Engineering, Architecture, Tohoku University Studied the history of modern Japanese architecture at University of Tokyo.
1979	PhD in Engineering for dissertation, “A Historical Study of City Planning In the Meiji Period”.
1991	Began to practice architecture with the work, the Jinchōkan Moriya Historical Museum.
2006	Commissioner of the Japanese Pavilion at the 10th Venice Biennale of Architecture

Major Awards

1986	Suntory Prize for Social Science and Humanities (for Adventures of an Architectural Detective, Tokyo)
1997	Japan Art Award (for Creating a space of spaciousness and warmth as shown in the Genpei Akasegawa Residence)
1998	Architectural Institute of Japan Prize (paper) (for research on the history of modern Japanese cities and architecture)
2001	Architectural Institute of Japan Prix (for the Student Dormitory of Kumamoto Agricultural College)
2020	Japan Art Academy Prize (for Roof House, Shiga)
