Since its establishment as the construction industry’s first technical research institute in Japan in 1949, Kajima Technical Research Institute has been taking on the challenges created by the new needs of our customers and society and developing new technologies for a wide range of fields, including those used in the construction of skyscrapers, nuclear power plants and seismic devices.

In recent years, the social environment has changed drastically due to large-scale natural disasters such as the Great East Japan Earthquake of 2011, the declining birthrate and aging population in Japan, and globalization. In addition, the challenges we face are diverse and wide-ranging, including: 1) ensuring the security and safety of communities through disaster prevention and mitigation, and 2) achieving a low-carbon/recycling-oriented society that coexists in harmony with nature, taking into account the lifecycle of buildings, and rationalization and innovation in construction production.

Our mission is to create new values for our customers through providing infrastructure, buildings, and services as the solutions for these challenges, and with a sense of speed search for and identify needs and propose technical solutions that exceed customers’ expectations.

With the goal of further developing the company’s business and building a sustainable society as we appropriately responding to future changes in social and economic circumstances, Kajima Corporation has developed and implemented its Medium-term Business Plan. We will maximize our technological potential by leveraging our corporate DNA—we have always been at the cutting edge of the technologies of their respective eras—while aligning our vector to the business strategy set out in the plan so that we will be able to contribute to society more broadly as a partner with our customers.
