What kind of contents have the 3D effect?

This device reproduces spatial information within the audio source. Audio sources with spatial information—such as those listed below—will deliver strong 3D effects.

  • Audio sources created with binaural recording*

Binaural recording is a method of recording with two microphones set at the ear positions of a dummy head shaped like a human head and ears. When listening to these recordings with headphones, the sound source's direction (front, back, left, right, up, down) and distance are reproduced realistically. However, typically, binaural recordings have significant effects only when listened to with headphones. By using "OPSODIS 1" to play the binaural sound, you can enjoy the effect of spatial sound equal to or exceeding headphones.

  • Sound produced with surrounding or multi-channel audio such as movies, music, and games (video or music streaming services, BD, DVD, etc.)
  • Audio sources referred to as spatial audio*

Audio content that enables immersive audio experience where sounds echo from certain height and direction. As is available on streaming services such as Apple Music and Netflix.

In addition to the above, standard stereo audio sources that recreate spatial environments can also be expected to produce high 3D acoustic effects with "OPSODIS 1". On the other hand, mono audio sources or regular TV broadcasts, such as news, often do not contain spatial information. Therefore, when using the device with a TV, we recommend using it when watching movies or listening to music via video streaming services.

What is the most effective listening position and distance for 3D acoustic effects?

This device is primarily designed for desktop use. The optimal position is directly in front of the device, with approximately 60 cm between the speakers and the listener's ears, and an angle of about 60 degrees. The 3D effect gradually becomes lower as the distance increases.

Additionally, there are three SOUND modes available for you to maximize your experience according to your environment. SOUND 1 provides clearer 3D effects and sound localization when used at close range, such as on a desktop. SOUND 2 offers a milder 3D effect but a wider sound reproduction, which makes it more effective when the listening distance is relatively far (approximately 60 cm to 1.5 m).

For use near large TVs or projectors where the viewing distance is farther, you may want to place the device closer to the listener to enhance the 3D effect. SOUND 3 simulates stereo playback with coaxial speakers positioned on the left and right when OPSODIS 1 is actually placed in front.

How should I connect it to the TV?

You can connect the device to your TV using the optical digital output, audio output (red and white stereo output), or headphone jack on the TV. For connecting by an optical digital connection, use a commercially available optical cable to connect the TV's optical digital output to the device's optical digital input. When connecting via audio output, use a commercially available audio cable with red and white audio connectors on one side and a 3.5mm connector on the other side. Connect the red and white connectors to the audio output on the TV, and the 3.5mm connector to the AUX (analog input) on the device. For a headphone jack connection, use a commercially available audio cable with 3.5mm connectors on both ends. Connect one end to the headphone output on the TV, and the other end to the AUX (analog input) on the device.

How should I connect it to a BD player or DVD player?

You can connect the device to the BD player/DVD player's optical digital output or audio output (red and white stereo output). For an optical digital connection, use a commercially available optical cable to connect the player's optical digital output to the device's optical digital input. When connecting via audio output, use a commercially available audio cable with red and white audio connectors on one side and a 3.5mm connector on the other side. Connect the red and white connectors to the audio output on the player and the 3.5mm connector to the AUX (analog input) on the device.

Can I connect using an HDMI cable?

"OPSODIS 1" does not support HDMI input. It supports Bluetooth connection, USB-C connection, optical digital connection, and 3.5mm analog connection.

Using an HDMI cable with a USB-C conversion plug will not play the audio.
