Nissan Tamagawa Hospital South Pavilion
Nissan Tamagawa Hospital South Pavilion

This community-based hospital is nestled in a quiet, leafy Tokyo residential neighborhood. The new South Wing, designed to respond to the constantly evolving medical environment, as well as raise the functionality of the hospital, is built on land vacated by the previous building and connects directly to the hospital's main building. The hospital contains 389 beds, including 57 beds in the new wing.
The wing's design emphasizes the twin concepts of sustainability and caring, and incorporates the "adjustable hospital" design concept developed by Kajima. This flexible structure enables the hospital to adapt rapidly to changing medical-care needs, while the clearly delineated zone-based layout and the interior design provide a sense of quality and comfort for patients, their families and medical professionals. This contributes to the realization of both people-friendly architecture and state-of-the-art medical care.
