This is a factory project for a newspaper company launched in 1898 that covers a wide area of Hyogo prefecture. In order to reduce the risk from natural disasters, the third plant was built in the Himeji City-Harima area which was shorthanded until then, in addition to the two printing plants in Kobe City. Based on the lessons learned from the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, many measures were taken. Along with seismic isolation structure, the site was raised to protect the factory from flooding, an emergency power generator, uninterrupted power supply (UPS), as a countermeasure for blackouts and thunderstorms, and large eaves to tolerate wind and rain were installed to provide a factory resistant to natural disasters. Since newspaper printing presses consume a great deal of energy, energy-saving and resource-saving measures are actively incorporated to reduce the impact on the environment.
