Kanda Myoujin Edo Culture Complex
Kanda Myoujin Edo Culture Complex

On the day of the festival, the area within the shrine property overflow with enthusiasm of the edokko (a person born and raised in Edo, former Tokyo). On ordinary days, the mornings and evenings are shrouded in tranquility and an air of sacredness prevails, and the bustling returns as people come to visit for worship. The project for this complex is a facility built to commemorate the founding of the shrine 1300 years ago. On the first floor which is connected to the approach, there are amulet distribution place, souvenir shops and tea houses where worshippers can wait and take a rest. The second and third floors connected to the ground through the terrace are multipurpose halls utilized for live events, performances, festivals, and cultural events. The fourth floor is a VIP room, and the first basement floor is a space for experiencing Japanese culture. Various works of art are arranged on each floor, and along with the succession of history that has been inherited continuously, it has created a place of interaction that takes in diverse values and creates new culture.
