Teikoku Seiyaku Nihonbashi-Honcho Nichome Building
Teikoku Seiyaku Nihonbashi-Honcho Nichome Building

This is a project for an office building built to commemorate the 170th anniversary of operations for a pharmaceutical company which was a pioneer in developing anti-inflammatory and analgesic patches. The site is located in Nihonbashi Honcho where drug wholesalers gather since the Edo period, and contribution to the formation of historic and dignified cityscape was sought from this project. The spacious outdoor space that makes use of the district plan creates a lively street, and the stylized masonry façade is in harmony with the surrounding stone exterior buildings. The proportion of the three-tiered façade is arranged following the golden ratio. The entrance intends to welcome users with the warm and uplifting space, and the stone walls with different roughness give off colorful expressions depending on the changes in season and time. The building blends in with the cityscape and has a distinctive presence and a stately elegance in a large-scale development area.
