This development center is designed to contribute to the global frontline of manufacturing through the advancement of factory automation (FA) technology and its global adoption. Approximately 2,400 engineers work on seven levels covering a total of 30,000m2. It is hoped that innovation will result, as links among engineers are strengthened and gatherings are held of developers from different floors. The central atrium and varied, open meeting spaces support the theme of a unified, interconnected workplace, by facilitating communication and the exchange of ideas among engineers. In fact, various aspects of the building support not only the engineers, but also a diverse range of environmental technologies. FA technology is often the product of joint development and collaboration among people from diverse fields who possess a myriad experiences. Hence, the atrium lies at the core of efforts to create an integrated space.
