TOKYO PORTCITY TAKESHIBA OFFICE TOWER
TOKYO PORTCITY TAKESHIBA OFFICE TOWER

This project was selected by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government following an open call for project proposals. It took seven years afterward to develop, design, and construct the project. The Takeshiba area is located in the vicinity of Hamamatsucho Station and is surrounded by the rich nature of Tokyo Bay (Takeshiba Pier), the Kyu-Shibarikyu Gardens, and the Hamarikyu Gardens. However, because of the difficulty in the access to and from the Hamamatsucho area via Kaigandori Avenue and the Metropolitan Expressway, as well as several municipality-owned facilities that have reached their renewal period, the area has not been able to fully demonstrate its potential. A 500-meter pedestrian deck now connects Hamamatsucho Station to Tokyo Bay. In addition, a vertical plaza with lush greenery facing the sea named the Skip Terrace is provided for the office tower, which will serve as a new business hub. Through this project, the public and private sectors cooperate to create a lively atmosphere and revitalize the Takeshita district.
