Seinan Gakuin is one of the most famous schools in Kyushu. With the addition of the elementary school, Seinan Gakuin will become an integrated institution covering from kindergarten to graduate school.
Since at elementary school level, someone should watch the children at all times, our concept was to create a "big house" around a large atrium, free of blind spots.
We arranged the classrooms, chapel, gymnasium, library, staff room and other key rooms around the atrium for ease of use and to enable everyone to be in visual contact. This promotes communication, while the low floor heights and open setback area on each floor enhance children's sense of security. The main staircase rising from the center of the atrium is visible from everywhere, and can be used for giving choral presentations, taking commemorative photographs, and holding other events.
