This 148-unit condominium development is located beside a key scenic road in central Musashino City, in Tokyo’s western suburbs. All development, design and construction was carried out by Kajima based on the model concept of an environment-friendly, low-rise residential development. The courtyard forest area is designed to reflect and recreate the original Musashino landscape, produce seasonal variation, and mature over the long-term to become a focal point of the community. The residences are oriented so that natural light enters through either the east- or west-facing side, allowing the open southern end of the courtyard to provide abundant sunlight. Natural air flow from the adjoining park is enhanced by the piloti-supported entrance. The overall design focuses on residents’ daily experience of the natural environment: the sky, sunlight, rain, wind and greenery. The development’s environmental performance rating is equivalent to CASBEE-S class.
