A new, quicker way to construct domed buildings

Through our technology-sharing partnership with US-based Dome Technology, we have developed a new construction method that we call KAJIMA next Technology DOME, or KT Dome. It involves creating a dome-shaped mold made by stretching a layer of polyvinyl chloride and then spraying concrete on the inner surface. The process allows us to rapidly construct domes without the use of pillars or beams and without being affected by the weather, making it possible to reduce construction times and lower costs. For example, a 27.5-by-28-meter silo we constructed in Shunan City, Japan, took us just five months to complete after we created the mold. We intend to apply this process in the construction of school gyms, arenas, and other buildings.
