The Kajima Foundation for the Arts presented the Foundation Prize and Excellence Prize to four winners

  • Promotion of academia, culture, and art

On May 18, 2023, the 29th Kajima Foundation for the Arts Prizes was held at the Kajima KI Building (Minato-ku, Tokyo), hosted by the Kajima Foundation for the Arts (led by Chairperson Kimiko Kajima).

Since their establishment in 1994, these prizes have been awarded each year to recognize outstanding research papers by researchers with grant funding (published in "Kajima Journal of Art Studies," issued by the foundation), with the goal of further promoting art research. This Prize program was enhanced last year (28th) with the establishment of the new "Excellence Prize."

Two winners were selected for the Foundation Prize and another two were selected for the Excellence Prize this time as the result of the examination of academic papers on research projects that received grant funding in 2020 by a panel of judges. At the awards ceremony, each winner received a certificate and an additional prize (1,000,000 yen for the Foundation Prize and 500,000 yen for the Excellence Prize) from Managing Director Takahashi before being given the opportunity to make a presentation on their findings, which ranged in topic from Eastern to Western art, and were listened to by a large audience, both in person and online.
