Kajima employees gave a lecture themed "Renewable Energy Infrastructure Construction and Corporate Carbon Neutrality Initiatives According to a General Contractor" at Akita International University (Akita City, Akita Prefecture) on June 2, 2023.

The lecture was one of a series of 150-minute lectures delivered in English on Friday afternoons as an industry-academia collaborative funded course. The course was implemented based on a partnership between Mitsubishi Corporation Offshore Wind Ltd., Venti Japan Inc., Hokuto Bank, and Akita International University and was attended by 22 students, including international students. In the first half, a representative from the Civil Engineering Management Division of Kajima Corporation introduced the company's initiatives aimed at developing and implementing decarbonization technologies, such as carbon-absorbing concrete CO₂-SUICOM and the regeneration of seaweed bed, which can lead to blue carbon creation. In the second half, an employee who had worked for the Offshore Wind Farms at Akita Port and Noshiro Port project, which the company had implemented in Akita Prefecture, talked about how the construction work had been carried out, as well as the past achievements of implementing construction projects in conjunction with European companies, environmental considerations, and other aspects.

Students proactively asked questions and expressed comments as to natural symbiosis, carbon neutrality, renewable energy, etc. not only during the lecture but also during rest periods and after the lecture. The lecturer said that it had caused him to realize how much young people were interested in decarbonization technologies and offshore wind power generation projects.
