In celebration of the 30th anniversary of its establishment, the Atsumi International Foundation* (Chairperson: Naoki Atsumi) held a thank-you party at the Hotel Chinzanso Ballroom (Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo) on March 22, 2024, which was attended by about 200 people, including those who have supported the foundation in various ways and scholarship students.

Established in 1994 based on the wish of Kajima’s late Honorary Chairman Takeo Atsumi, the Atsumi International Foundation has been providing scholarships to excellent international students enrolled in graduate programs in Japanese universities, with the aim of not only helping them accomplish academic success but also allowing them to benefit even more from studying in Japan by coming in contact with the country’s rich culture and society. The scholarship program was extended to include Japanese students in FY2022. Many outstanding scholarship students and former scholarship students are now playing important roles in international exchange projects.

A scholarship student emceed the thank-you party, in which Chairperson Atsumi delivered the opening address, and Osamu Nagayama, Honorary Chairman of Chugai Pharmaceutical, and President Amano of Kajima Corporation gave speeches as guests of honor. Participants enjoyed socializing in a relaxed atmosphere. The party also included other programs, such as speeches by new and old scholarship students, and ended on a high note.

The Atsumi International Foundation will continue to proactively promote its scholarship program and internal exchange projects.
