Supported Young People Shaping Asia's Future at ABU ROBOCON 2024
Kajima sponsored the ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest 2024 in Quảng Ninh, Vietnam, where young engineers from across the Asia-Pacific region showcased their robotics skills.
Organized by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), the contest took place on August 25, 2024, at Ha Long Bay, with 13 teams from 12 countries and regions—each having won their national preliminaries-competing in an exciting tournament. Under the banner of "Challenge & Changing," Kajima encouraged the bold efforts of the next generation of innovators.
This year's theme, "Harvest Day," challenged participants to design robots capable of reproducing the rice-farming process—from sowing seeds to harvesting and transporting crops. Teams presented highly creative and distinctive robots, filling the venue with energy and enthusiasm. The Kajima Prize was awarded to Nirma University, India, for the ingenuity and stability of its belt conveyor design.
The contest concluded with victory for the team from Hong Kong, while Toyohashi University of Technology*1, Japan, secured a place among the top four. By focusing on rice farming, a theme linked to the global challenge of food security, the students' innovative efforts represented a meaningful step toward a sustainable society.
Through ABU ROBOCON, Kajima aims to offer young people opportunities not only to advance their technological skills but also to foster international exchange—cultivating future leaders with a truly global perspective.
