The Kyoto exhibition was held from October 3 to 25 at the Museum and Archives, Kyoto Institute of Technology (Sakyo-ku, Kyoto). Originally proposed by architect Fumihiko Maki and launched in 1982, this exhibition invites submissions of architectural works, outdoor spaces, and interior designs from the general public that are either in the design or construction phase and intended for realization. This year, 12 projects were selected and exhibited from more than 200 submissions. The jury members were Jun Aoki, Hiroko Tominaga, Eisuke Mitsuda, and Shingo Masuda, with Kengo Kuma serving as advisor.

Jury members, selected entrants, and other related parties gathered at the reception held prior to the opening of the Tokyo exhibition. Mr. Aoki described SD Review as one of the most important gateways to Japan's architectural world and praised the selected entrants, saying: "As Mr. Maki once said, SD Review is an award premised on realization, but it is also filled with ‘dreams’ that differ from our everyday design work. What makes it interesting is that it allows us to see what kinds of dreams you are currently developing. All 12 selected projects were highly engaging, and I greatly enjoyed serving on the jury."
