Kajima Sponsors the NHK Gakusei ROBOCON 2026
Kajima sponsored the NHK Gakusei ROBOCON 2026: Qualification Round for the ABU Asia-Pacific ROBOCON (NHK Gakusei ROBOCON 2026), organized by the Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) and NHK Enterprises, Inc. Held on June 14, 2026, at EBARA WAVE Arena Ota (Ota City General Gymnasium) in Ota-ku, Tokyo, the event brought together student teams from across Japan that had advanced through the preliminary screening. Based on the competition theme, each team designed and built its own robots and demonstrated their technical skills and creativity.

This year's theme was "Kung Fu Quest," inspired by the ancient martial arts of Hong Kong, host city of ABU ROBOCON 2026, which Kajima also sponsors. Under the rules, two robots worked together in a "dojo" to assemble martial arts gear and collect secret scrolls before facing the opposing team in the "arena." Each team fielded two robots, including one fully autonomous machine, and the matches showcased a high level of coordination and speed.
Kajima also displayed a message of encouragement at the venue: "Give shape to your ideas! Make your dreams a reality!" At its booth, the company distributed brochures introducing mechanization and automation technologies used at construction sites, along with novelty items, to highlight the appeal of the construction industry to visitors.

At the awards ceremony following the competition, Kajima presented its Special Prize to Nagaoka University of Technology. The team was recognized for a mechanism that enabled its robot to grasp and retrieve martial arts gear while moving up and down, for its uniquely stable crawler-based step-climbing system, and for the way it expressed its concept through performance. Toyohashi University of Technology won the competition and will represent Japan at ABU ROBOCON 2026 this August.
The competition can also be viewed on NHK ONE through live and catch-up streaming, as well as on the official ROBOCON YouTube channel*.
