Kajima sponsored the ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest 2026 Hong Kong, China, organized by the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU), supporting students pursuing innovation through technology.

The contest was held on August 23, 2026, at Queen Elizabeth Stadium in Hong Kong. Sixteen teams representing 15 countries and regions across the Asia-Pacific took part in the event.

Representing Japan was Toyohashi University of Technology, winner of NHK Student ROBOCON 2026. Teams brought their technologies and ideas together to compete on the international stage. Guided by the message "Challenge & Changing," Kajima encouraged students striving to shape the future through technology and creativity.

This year's contest was inspired by Chinese martial arts. Teams operated two robots that worked together to assemble a spear while navigating a field with slopes and elevation changes. Success depended not only on robot performance but also on coordination and teamwork.

The final match was contested between two teams from Hong Kong, with the University of Hong Kong taking the championship. Japan's representative, Toyohashi University of Technology, advanced to the semifinals.

The Kajima Award was presented to Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). Although the team successfully assembled the spear, it did not reach the final goal. Kajima recognized the students' determination to keep challenging themselves until the very end, as well as their teamwork and perseverance throughout the competition.

Since 2024, Kajima has sponsored NHK Student ROBOCON, ABU ROBOCON, and KOSEN ROBOCON, supporting young people who challenge the future through technology and innovation. Kajima will continue to contribute to the development of the next generation by providing opportunities for young people to enhance their technical skills and engage in international exchange.
