This state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for small-and medium-sized flat panel displays is 300m long and 55m high, spanning five levels. It is one of the largest such plants ever built. To realize high throughput, the plant’s centerpiece is an integrated production line for processing very large glass substrates-measuring approximately 2.7㎡. There is almost no human intervention, as robots and automated conveyers connect each piece of manufacturing equipment. Exacting specifications were met through the application of leading-edge construction technologies. These include clean room technology; measures to prevent micro-vibration in precision machining equipment; and the installation of large-scale equipment that include vacuum chambers each weighing 90 tons. With the client needing to bring the plant online very rapidly, Kajima worked to an extremely short construction schedule by leveraging such proprietary methods as airtight deck ceilings and airtight Galvalume steel plate partitioning.
