The 58-floor, 200-meter-tall mixed-use development spanning over 170 thousand square meters accommodates 1,174 apartment units, a hotel, cultural and commercial facilities, aiming to preserve and utilize the former Yokohama Raw Silk Inspection Warehouses. Located in the center of the scenic axis connecting Minato Mirai and Kannai, the façade is composed of two parts, the side corresponding to the progressive nature of Minato Mirai and the classical side of the Kannai streetscape. At the podium level, the former office building was preserved to adapt to new use. The two former warehouses were restored with a new semi-outdoor plaza in between that serves as an urban space introducing Yokohama’s culture and information. The public floor on the 46th floor of the tower building overlooks Yokohama and enhances the district’s three-dimensional circulation, generating a new flow of people. The project not only preserves the historical landscape but gives new life to the historic buildings.
