The new headquarter building for a comprehensive dental care manufacturer located in an industrial area outside of Chicago. This new building was added next to the existing factory, consolidating offices, a training center, and a distribution center that were dispersed in the site. To meet the complex requests for diverse programs in the building addition, the “Communication Loop” concept was adopted to restructure the production flow and work, encouraging encounters and communication between and thus optimizing the building configuration. The open light-filled space incorporates offices comfortable even in harsh winters of minus 20 degrees Celsius, exhibition spaces that express the company’s hospitality, and a grand staircase that connects people. The exterior walls of the existing building were entirely refurbished to unify the façade of the site as a whole. The building composition, derived from its programs and concept, creates a gentle but uncluttered presence on the roadside of an American suburb.
