A range of designs have been incorporated in the Ginza Six commercial complex, the largest redevelopment project in the Ginza area. The mixed-use facility includes an urban renewal zone and a realigned road. It comprises a large retail complex, featuring luxury brands; office space with the largest floor plate in Tokyo; the Kanze Noh Theater; a district heating and cooling system; and a large parking lot. The unifying features of the building’s exterior are stainless steel eaves and the vertical noren curtain motif of the façade. The structure helps enhance the Ginza’s pedestrian network through the addition of pedestrian passageways, an underground connection to the Ginza subway station, and the widening of one perimeter street to include a terrace and space for tourist coaches to stop. Another first for Ginza is the 4,000㎡ rooftop garden, some 56m above street level.
