The Kachidoki area-adjacent to the Sumida River and several canals-is blessed with ample waterfront access. Kachidoki also boasts infrastructure that provides direct connections to the center of Tokyo and strong potential within the capital’s transportation network. It is undergoing redevelopment as a desirable central city residential area. The main building of the Kachidoki The Tower complex has 53 floors and a total of 1,420 residential units. The development includes serviced condominiums for elderly residents, elderly care support facilities, retail stores, offices, and a carpark for 679 vehicles. The main tower’s footprint is a three-pronged propeller shape, which maximizes the number of condominiums with attractive views and south-facing orientation. The shape also reduces impact on the surrounding neighborhood. The damping structure employed takes advantage of the tower’s three adjoining wings to absorb seismic force over the entire building.
