This project is part of the Ikebukuro Station area’s redevelopment project based on the “International City of Arts and Culture Vision”advocated by Toshima Ward. It is a public-private partnership endeavor to utilize the former government office building site. Along with the planning and design of Block A (Hareza Tower) and Block B (Tokyo Tatemono Brillia HALL), the overall design of Block C (Toshima Civic Center), Block D (Naka-Ikebukuro Park) and the municipality road was supervised. These four blocks are visually harmonized by merging their boundaries as much as possible, creating a pleasant, easy to get around cityscape with a unified image. The three buildings house eight theaters that cater to a wide variety of genres, from the most cuttingedge of the performing arts to traditional arts, promoting Ikebukuro’s unique theatrical culture. The entire area is filled with a festive atmosphere befitting the name Hareza.
