This student clubroom building project was undertaken in keeping with the grand design for the entire campus, namely, to create spaces in which students can gather. Since one side of the buildings faces a residential area, the structure is closed to the outside—so as not to disturb local residents—yet open to the inside. On the campus side, rooms have large windows facing an inner garden. The simple configuration was designed to create comfortable spaces in which energetic young students can meet, interact and work together. Attention was paid to determining the types of amenities needed for club rooms, and simple, clear cut, low cost solutions were then found to ensure adequate functionality. The name, Ponte, meaning "bridge" in Italian, reflects our hope that, as students negotiate this bridge, their activities will extend into the future for many generations.
