The project plan involves scrapping the research center’s seven existing blocks and replacing them with a single, new building. Featuring the concept of a communication loop, the plan provides a work space that would fuse the diverse knowledge of researchers to stimulate creativity and speed—both essential features in today’s R&D scene. In consideration of neighboring residents and to promote integration and unity within the organization, the design maximizes the openness internally while creating space enclosed from the surrounding area. The work area contains two almost-parallel main elements connected by an atrium to provide an integrated design and encourage communication among researchers in various fields. The east–west balcony of the broad work area offers privacy and future modifiability, while the large, partition-free rooms enable speedy and flexible adaptation to organizational changes.
