This is a production facility for a global medical equipment manufacturer. The front of building features a magnificent hill, created using surplus soil from excavations for the base-isolated structure. The lawn and other greenery provide a charming environment for visitors and workers, and a retreat from the surroundings. The gentle arc of the hill approach, leading to the second floor, instills an air of expectation. Delineated by floor, the building’s functions find expression on the façade: concrete for stability on the first floor (storage); the soft light that penetrates and abundant natural scenery outside emphasize openness on the second floor (administration); while checkered slit windows on the third floor (production) express extensity enhanced by tree-filtered sunlight. The building offers a sense of excitement, as a location where manufacturing craftsmanship takes place for a company pursuing functional and environmental beauty.
