This is a research facility of a manufacturer centering around automobile lamps. The new testing facility that consists of the design and engineering building and the Light Tunnel (LT) building was built opposite the existing factory. This project aimed to establish a manufacturing cycle where ideas are generated in the design and engineering building, demonstration tests are conducted in the LT building, and products are manufactured in the existing factory, thus reestablishing a base for creating new values. In addition to the two new buildings, several outdoor testing areas were planned to maximize the use of the 4-hectare site. On the first floor of the design and engineering building, laboratories are arranged around the central atrium. On the second floor, an open-plan workspace fosters a sense of unity in craftsmanship, while the concentration area and social area support the diverse working styles of researchers. The LT building of a total length of 220 meters is one of the world's longest indoor test facilities. It has a four-lane paved road and is equipped to reproduce rain, fog, day and night conditions.
