On March 12, 2025, Kajima welcomed five students from the National Institute of Technology, Fukushima College, to visit the Kajima Technical Institute (Chofu City, Tokyo) and participate in a discussion session with female engineers. This event was carried out as an additional prize for the college's team that won the Kajima Construction Award in the Third KOSEN GIRLS SDGs x Technology Contest (KOSEN GCON 2024)*, sponsored by Kajima (hosted by KOSEN and held on December 14 and 15, 2024).

On the day of the visit, we gave the students a talk about the appeal of the construction industry and about manufacturing at Kajima. Following this, they visited several facilities in the Nishi-Chofu Experimental Hall.

At the KAJIMA Open Laboratory (KOLabo), the students experienced Tri DEQer®, a three-dimensional seismic simulator developed by Kajima that can reproduce major earthquakes such as the 1995 Great Hanshin Earthquake in the south of Hyogo Prefecture.

They also visited KAJIMA CONCRETE BASE, a hub for Kajima's concrete technologies, where they explored various types of concrete, and toured the Large-Scale Structural Testing Building, which evaluates the durability and earthquake resistance of large structures. These activities deepened their understanding of Kajima's cutting-edge research facilities and technologies developed through R&D.

After the tour, a roundtable discussion was held with two female engineers, who shared their experiences of working at a general contractor, their motivation to contribute to society through large-scale projects, and the rewards of long-term technology development. The students actively asked questions about topics such as studying at university and balancing work after childbirth. One participant commented: "I was worried about balancing work and life in the future, but listening to female engineers who are already succeeding in the field made me feel that I could also achieve that balance."

To conclude, a human resources staff member who facilitated the event encouraged the students: "I hope you will make use of what you experienced today in your future studies and careers."
