Tokyo Midtown Hibiya
Tokyo Midtown Hibiya

This redevelopment project includes the replacement of two notable buildings. As master designer, Hopkins Architects adopted the concepts of “Dancing Tower ” and “People in the Park” for the project, and sought to incorporate Hibiya Park’s greenery while an elegant and refined design. Within the 192m ultra-high-rise tower, the lower levels contain commercial facilities and a cinema complex, while the mid-levels include new-industry creation facilities and office support facilities. The upper levels comprise office floors that provide expansive vistas of the area surrounding the Imperial Palace. The building’s structure is the first to have adopted Kajima’s proprietary HiDAX-R system, which boasts the world’s greatest seismic damping efficiency. In addition to having an on-site emergency power generation system capable of providing the complex with electricity for up to 72 hours, the structure is supported by sophisticated safety and business continuity features.
