This building, between a shopping and a residential area south of Ichikawa Station, Chiba Prefecture, is both a corporate training center and an employee dormitory. Owner Toko Electrical Construction Co., Ltd.—a leader in its field—rebuilt the facility with the next generation of students in mind.
The center has an inner courtyard that loosely connects its two parts and blends in with the surrounding town. The green space of the courtyard provides an area for response activities in the event of an emergency, parking for emergency vehicles, and a buffer zone for a rainwater tank. The semi-public courtyard, seen from many parts of the facility, serves to energize facility users and enhance the esthetic experience of passers-by.
The mock-ups of electrical construction sites in practical teaching rooms give students hands-on practical experience.
