Silver Mountain & E-Cube Senzoku Gakuen College of Music
Silver Mountain & E-Cube Senzoku Gakuen College of Music

The Mizonokuchi Campus—opened in 1946—is an advanced and diverse center for music education. A variety of buildings are arranged around the campus’s central square. As the starting point for a longer-term reorganization, this project includes two new buildings—the much-used three-level rehearsal-room building, and the five-story administration block. Campus users pass between the two structures when heading from the main gate to the central square, creating a new axis for movement to and from the campus’s heart and revitalizing the main square as the focus of communication. The freely curved, voluminous form of the Silver Mountain (rehearsal building) has a stainless steel exterior that shines tranquilly, while the E-Cube (administration building) is clad in a cheerful mosaic of tiles. The contrasting shapes and colors are intended to spark the creativity of the budding artists who come to the college.
