Programs Related to Work-Life Balance
WLB Initiatives
- Extended childcare leave program
Employees can use this program in installments until the child reaches the age of two.
- Childbirth leave program
Employees can use this program in two installments for a total of four weeks within the eight weeks following childbirth.
- Flex-time hours program for parents
Any employee can work flexibly and reduce their work hours up to 35 hours a month until their child completes grade six at elementary school.
- Shortened work hours program for parents
Employees can use this program until the child reaches the age of three. Work hours can be either (1) 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM or (2) 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Family support leave program
Employees can use this program for 180 days. Up to 80 days of unused accumulated paid leave are also available as family support leave. Employees can also take up to 20 days of family support absence.
- Flexible shortened work hours program for family support
Any employee can work flexibly and reduce work their hours down to 35 hours a month.
- Telecommuting program
Employees can use this program up to three times a week, eight times a month. (Some exclusions may apply)
- Leave for caregiving
Available for up to five days a year per child. (up to 10 days with two or more children)
- Family support leave
Employees can take this leave in half-day increments if a family member is hospitalized, discharged, or sees a doctor regularly.
- Childbirth support leave
Up to 5 days per financial year. However, a maximum of 10 days for hospital visits involving in-vitro fertilization, micro-fertilization, etc. Can be also be taken in hourly increments or at the same time as family support leave.
- Leave for transfer between construction sites
Up to five consecutive days. Employees can take this leave as part of a prolonged vacation in combination with annual paid leave days.
- Refreshment leave
From 3 to 15 consecutive days for employees who have worked for 10, 15, 20, 25, or 30 years.
- Leave system for volunteering
Employees can take this leave in half-day increments, up to a total of six days each fiscal year. Additional leave is available if a large-scale disaster has occurred.
- Memorial day leave
One day each fiscal year
