In addition to its head office, branch offices, and construction sites in Japan, Kajima operates local subsidiaries and offices primarily in North America, Europe, Asia, and Oceania, employing staff of diverse nationalities at each location. Through the active contributions of these employees, the Kajima Group builds trust with local companies and partners, enabling business operations that are firmly rooted in local communities.

To enhance our corporate value on a sustainable basis and drive the growth of our business, thereby continuing to contribute to society and our customers, we will further strengthen our efforts to build an environment where every employee can realize their full potential under the banner of “Empowering Diversity to Build the Next 100 Years.”

Since establishing the Diversity Promotion Group within the Human Resources Department in 2015, Kajima has steadily advancedour Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) initiatives. In 2025, we launched the DEI Committee, comprising members of senior management and representatives from across the Company, to accelerate company-wide DE&I initiatives.

In addition to fostering a workplace culture where diverse talent can thrive regardless of gender, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, nationality, or disability, we have steadily advanced initiatives that support employees in balancing work with childcare, caregiving, and medical treatment, while also promoting more flexible ways of working. Going forward, we will continue to build on these efforts by strengthening and accelerating our DE&I initiatives, while implementing practical, high-impact measures rooted in our workplaces.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Promotion Structure

Kajima’s diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives are promoted under the Sustainability Committee, chaired by the President. Policies and key directions are formulated by the DE&I Promotion Committee, while the Diversity Promotion Group within the Human Resources Department is responsible for planning and implementing specific measures.

Basic Policy and Action Plans for Work-Life Balance

Achieving Healthy and Fulfilling Lives

At Kajima, we promote work-life balance so that employees can find purpose and fulfillment in both their professional and personal lives, with the aim of enabling them to lead healthy and fulfilling lives.

Kajima Basic Policy on Work-Life Balance

Because each individual’s time is finite, achieving self-development and self-fulfillment through a balance between work and life—and thereby leading a healthy and fulfilling life—enhances personal purpose and satisfaction. We believe this also serves as the foundation for a company’s sustainable growth.

“Plan of Action for General Employers” Based on the Act on Advancement of Measures to Support Raising Next-Generation Children

Kajima has formulated the following action plans to support the balance between work and childcare and to promote a diverse working environments.

The Eighth Action Plan for the Next Generation (August 27, 2024 – March 31, 2029)
Goal 1
Increase the percentage of female employees hired into career-track positions to 30% by FY2028.

From August 2024

・Based on the male-female ratio of the 'entry sheets' received, our basic policy is to hire highly competent applicants regardless of that ratio even for job categories in which there are more women than men.

・To address concerns arising from the absence of role models, we will actively present clear career paths and enhance the visibility of employees’ careers and professional backgrounds.

・To foster an inclusive corporate culture, we will provide education on basic DE&I concepts, including ongoing awareness initiatives such as e-learning and unconscious bias training, as well as training on communication with diverse talent.

・We will provide level-specific training programs for female employees and strengthen networks that enable communication across job categories and departments.

Goal 2
Achieve a ratio of 3.8% female managers (section manager level and above) by FY2028, with a long-term goal of reaching 10% by FY2035.

From August 2024

・We will promote advancement opportunities by providing early job experiences that enable continued growth even after life events such as childbirth and childcare.

・We will promote the appointment of managers through mid-career hiring as well as advancement from non–career-track positions.

・To address concerns arising from the absence of role models, we will actively present clear career paths and enhance the visibility of employees’ careers and professional backgrounds.

・To foster an inclusive corporate culture, we will provide education on basic DE&I concepts, including ongoing awareness initiatives such as e-learning and unconscious bias training, as well as training on communication with diverse talent.

・We will provide level-specific training programs for female employees and strengthen networks that enable communication across job categories and departments.

Goal 3
Achieve a 100% paternity leave utilization rate, with at least 50% of employees taking leave for 30 days or longer.

From August 2024

・To enable early awareness of planned paternity leave, we conduct surveys and support employees in taking leave at their preferred timing and duration.

・Through push-based consultation desks on work-life balance at head and branch offices, we provide personalized support regarding paternity leave.

・We hold work–childcare balance webinars and encourage employees returning from leave and their supervisors to attend together, promoting mutual understanding and greater workplace awareness.

・We encourage participation in parenting classes for fathers and management training programs to deepen understanding of paternity leave.

In 2017, Kajima was selected for the New Diversity Management Selection 100, an initiative of Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry that recognizes companies creating value by leveraging the capabilities of diverse talent.

In October 2024, Kajima received the Eruboshi certification (two-star), which recognizes companies with an excellent track record of initiatives under the Act on the Promotion of Women’s Active Engagement in Professional Life. We will continue striving to be a vibrant corporate group by respecting diverse attributes, values, and work styles.

LGBT-Friendly Declaration

In October 2025, Kajima received the “LGBT-Friendly Declaration Certificate” from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in recognition of our efforts to create a workplace environment in which sexual minorities can work comfortably.
