Promoting the use of reduced-cement concrete

In 2014, we collaborated with one university and seven companies to develop Eco-Crete ECM, a reduced-cement concrete that can be manufactured with over 60% less energy and CO2 emissions than standard concrete. To date, we have poured over 200,000 m³ of Eco-Crete ECM, primarily in building construction. We have also used the concrete in civil engineering projects, such as in reinforcing the bases of mobile cranes located inside Nippon Steel’s Yawata Metalworks. In every project, we have been able to greatly cut CO2 emissions while still providing a high level of durability. We will continue to promote the use of Eco-Crete ECM to help the world move towards becoming a zero-carbon economy.
